Well-Being Project


This project aims at improving the mental and physical well-being of refugee and migrant women and to equip them with the skills, confidence and knowledge for their integration and full participation in the UK society. The project has created a culturally familiar space for the women to come together, get information on health issues and educate themselves about healthy eating habits, cooking, and physical exercise.
We run the following activities in order to achieve the objectives of the project:

– Group exercises,
– Cook and taste sessions,
– Awareness on Breast and Ovary Cancer,
– Prevention about HIV (AIDS),
– Weight management,
– Depression,
– Diabetes: information provided by the Primary Care Trust (PCT).

Free Health Check
Everyone is at some risk of developing heart disease, stroke, diabetes, kidney disease and some forms of dementia. An NHS Health Check aims to help you lower your risk of developing these common but often preventable diseases. (font: www.nhs.uk)

Weight Management
The activity is free of charge and it will take place every Monday, from 13th January to 17th February from 5pm to 7pm! Do not miss out!
The programme includes:
+ 6 free weekly sessions including weigh-ins;
+ Practical weight loss advice;
+ Recipes full of creativity and flavour;
+ Learning about food labels;
+ Group support to keep the motivation.

Zumba Class
Zumba is a dance fitness program created by a Colombian dancer during the 1990s. It involves dance and aerobic elements; the choreography incorporates hip-hop, soca, samba, salsa, merengue, mambo and martial arts. It means: FUN! What are you waiting for?
Come and join our zumba class every Thursday, from 12pm to 1pm at EWEG.
